User Experiences and UnderTeaux

This week's reading has me thinking about how our class can contribute to the user experience (UX) of UnderTeaux's fans through the work we're doing for them.  I went to UnderTeaux's website (not the Facebook page, the one on Reverbnation), and I found a picture of them playing at the Horticulture Gardens.

And it was really neat to see that image because I was actually there, live when they played that gig.  Something about the shared experience of that image connected with me at a visceral level in the same way that Buxton's juicer connected for him.  And that's what I think we're trying to do with the visual images that we're going to be creating for UnderTeaux's first CD.  We're creating a visual image with which fans can connect at a visceral level.  We need to avoid providing too much info in our visual--like this:

And try to find something simple that people immediately identify with -- like Deadmau5:

Welcome!

Welcome to Digital Rhetorics Across Media.  The major goal of this course is to apply emerging rhetorics of visuals, animations, audio, video, and interfaces to professional communication technologies through hands-on experiences with technologies widely used in academic and industry settings.  Since much of our time spent in class will be taken up with hands-on activities using the computers, we will do many of our discussion of the assigned readings electronically using this space to connect with one another.
